Final public consultation for plan to provide up to 2,000 new homes

We've launched the final six week public consultation for our Places and Policies Local Plan. The consultation runs from Monday 5 February to Monday 19 March 2018

PLACES AND POLICIES LOCAL PLAN COVER

The plan shows sites where up to 2,000 new homes could be built across the district over the next 13 years. It also sets out what new homes and other buildings should look like, how they serve the economy and local communities and how they relate to each other and to what's already here.

You can view and comment on the plan via our consultation portal.

Cllr John Collier, Cabinet Member for the District Economy said: "It's imperative we plan for a future where our children and grandchildren can afford good quality local homes. This document makes that future more certain."

"We've previously invited the public to share their thoughts on this plan - where they wanted to live and work, and what they wanted those buildings and places to look like. I would like to thank all of the people, groups and organisations who took part in those consultations."

We've been working on this plan since 2015 and have carried out two public consultations during that time. This is the final consultation before it's submitted to a planning inspector for public examination.

This consultation focuses on specific legal issues which the planning inspector has to consider; whether the plan complies with the legal requirements, complies with the duty to cooperate, and is sound. There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to ask the inspector to take part in the examination.
